The performance ‘Eden. A scenical fairy tale in several pictures” is a multi-generational look at personal relationships with nature. The performance structure of "A scenical fairy tale" captures the contemporary experience of feeling confused, of losing one's sense of self, of an undefined longing, but also the experience of searching for and regaining spaces of harmony and tranquillity. It is an invitation to visit a garden and let the senses settle anew among green grasses and rustling trees, finding solace.
Gardens are that part of nature which, although created by humans, allows us to feel and experience our coexistence with the natural world. The sensual experience of a garden is essentially an encounter with nature and with oneself, and it may result in encounters with others. We aim not only to identify the negative, but also to create opportunities to experience affirmation.
We draw on personal stories of the project's participants and various cultural contexts, such as the Japanese art of forest bathing, shinrin-yoku, as well as the reflections of philosophers and ecologists. The costumes and set design were created in the spirit of zero waste and upcycling.
